Brian Calvin

Born in 1969 in Visalia, CA, USA, and based in Los Angeles, is known for his figurative, pictorial style work that eschews narrative. His paintings, rooted in the landscapes and personas of California, exhibit a close-up treatment of subjects, characterized by highly composed structures and a vibrant color palette. Calvin’s use of colors and structures endow his large-scale paintings with a strange temporality.
