b. 1957, One of the most successful Israeli artists today, Michal Rovner reinterprets historical memory and contemporary themes through her multimedia practice, employing drawing, printmaking, video, sculpture, and installation. She is fascinated by how geological objects — significantly altered with human markings — telegraph history into the present and future. She addresses these themes by merging video and sculpture through projection. Represented by Pace Gallery, Rovner has been exhibited worldwide, and had solo exhibitions in numerous institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; MoMA, New York; Musée du Louvre, Paris; and the Venice Biennale.
