Umar Rashid

Umar Rashid (b. 1976, USA. Also known as Frohawk Two Feathers) makes paintings, drawings, and sculptures that chronicle the grand historical fiction of the Frenglish Empire (1648–1880). Each work represents a frozen moment that often recalls our own fraught histories—both canonized and marginalized—with familiar visual lexicons of hip-hop, ancient and modern pop culture, and revolutionary movements throughout time. His works were exhibited at Dallas Contemporary, Dallas; Almine Rech, London, Paris; Blum & Poe, Los Angeles; MoMa PS1, New York; and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, among other institutions.
