Los Angeles-based artist Raffi Kalenderian paints colorful portraits of his young friends and colleagues on flat, two-dimensional backgrounds. The textured works capture a complete psychological framework in which his sitters exist. Kevin Specht is a self-taught artist whose haunting paintings explore themes of solitude and isolation within crowds of people. Referencing photographs and film stills, Specht’s works are autobiographical homages to his many years commuting to and from work.
