They Shut Me Up in Prose

March is International Women’s Month, and what better way to celebrate it than with the exhibition They Shut Me Up in Prose,” opening on March 8, 2022. The show, whose title is taken from Emily Dickinson’s eponymous poem, centers on the work of six women artists who introduce sophisticated models of femininity that reflect a shared contemporary experience and reframe the representation of the female image. Their common denominator is the way in which they challenge stereotypes as a platform to reflect on social and cultural concepts of female identity, desire, and sexuality.
